Michigan House Bill 4769: Michigan Laws for Michigan Courts, Rep. David Agema (R-Grandville) introduced this bill, along with 41 co-sponsors, which seeks to limit the enforcement and application of "foreign laws that would impair constitutional rights." The bill is presently in the House Judiciary Committee. There are hundreds of court cases on the books (nationally) in which foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines are invoked by parties to a dispute. In many cases those foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines are inconsistent with our constitutional ideals. This important legislation will clarify the situation, especially in cases where sharia law is invoked and make sure the Michigan State Constitution and U.S. Constitution prevail.
Jihadists & the Riots: In the question and answer section of cleric Abu Muhammad’s website, an unknown individual requested guidance from the website’s Sharia Committee regarding participation in the U.K. riots as a means to damage enemy states. Website SITEintelgroup captured the response from cleric Abu Mundhir al-Shanqiti as follows:
“Every Muslim should participate and contribute in sabotaging the economies of the Crusader states, whether this is through economic boycott or by targeting their property with vandalism and arson.”
Warren Buffet & Taxes: Recently Warren Buffet wrote an op-ed calling for higher taxes on the rich. Some important points are: 1) No one is stopping him from sending in funds to the Treasury, 2) His income consists of capital gains whereas his secretary’s income is ordinary income, and 3) Buffet is on record indicating that he can spend his money more wisely than the government. In a 2007 CNBC interview, Buffett explained why he intended to donate his fortune to the Gates Foundation and other charities, “I think that on balance the Gates Foundation, my daughter’s foundation, my two sons’ foundations will do a better job with lower administrative costs and better selection of beneficiaries than the government.”
Governmental Overreach Again: The government is again overreaching and wasting tax dollars to try to dictate what we can and cannot eat. On August 3rd, government agents from the FBI, FDA and 3 other agencies conducted an armed raid of a private, members-only food co-op near LA called Rawesome Foods. Officials seized $70,000 in raw organic food and poured an estimated 800 gallons of raw milk down the drain, even though there was absolutely no evidence that any of the products were contaminated. Although unpasteurized dairy products are legal in California, owner James Stewart and two farmers connected to the co-op were charged with 13 counts, including conspiracy to sell raw milk without a license.
In the States: After being threatened by the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the Desoto County School Board in Mississippi has decided to comply and ban prayers from football games and other school functions. At the first game since the ban on August 25, 2011, hundreds of people stood for the National Anthem, then instead of one loud voice over the PA system, hundreds of small ones recited the Lord's Prayer. However, Freedom From Religion Foundation has failed in its attempt to shut down the National Day of Prayer and, more recently, Governor Rick Perry's prayer event in Texas.
