Following are very touching letters that we have received from service members who received our packages. Last names have been omitted to protect privacy:
My name is SSG Godwin B. and I am a member of PRT Zabul in Qalat, Afghanistan. Our unit is made up of Army and Air Force personnel.
I want to say on behalf of everyone in our PRT, thank you for the package you sent to us. Please also thank the ladies of the Bloomfield Republican Women’s Club for their contribution. Your package came at a time when we are recovering from our loss; on June 11th, 2 members of our PRT were killed by a suicide bomber. SFC Robert F. and SSg Brian H. were both members of the PA National Guard, and were from western PA. Our resolve to continue our mission is stronger.
Again, thank you for your support. We do enjoy the things that you send; it adds comfort to our lives.
God bless you,
SSG Godwin B.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. The box made all the Marines smile. Thank you for that.
Sincerely,
Merrie E.
I am a teacher for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) at Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal, and somehow I have ended up on a mailing list to receive several wonderful care packages from patriotic Michiganders. Although I do teach the children of active duty military here on base, and my son is an Air Force officer, I am a civilian.
Thank you so much for your generous gift! I have forwarded the box to my son to distribute to members of his PRT (Provincial Reconstruction Team) at a forward location in Zabul Province, Afghanistan. He would like for me to thank all of you for your thoughtfulness.
As it happens, I will also be downrange during the next school year, on leave from DoDDS to teach for the University of Maryland University College at Kandahar AB, Afghanistan. I don’t know if you were aware that UMUC and other universities offer college courses at bases around the world for military members to earn college credits during their free time. As a teacher, I am thrilled that I will be able to support the troops in a small way.
With much appreciation,
Angela G.
Hi,
This is just a note to thank you for sending us the care packages! We appreciate anything we receive that will help out our Marines and Sailors here. We are at a base called Camp Leatherneck in So. Afghanistan, Helmand Province (the place usually in the news). The average daily temp. here is about 105 (June is hottest time of year). We only have a tiny PX here so any “comfort items” we can give out to the Marines, so that do not have to spend money, helps. We also forward these items to people at other outposts, which have very austere living conditions (no showers, chow halls, etc.), to help them out.
Again, thank you all so much for the time and effort you have put into this project! Please know that your generosity and kindness is very much appreciated!
Blessings,
Chaplain Jeanette S.
Ma’am,
I wanted to thank you and your organization for your kind and thoughtful care packages for me and my troops. These were some of the most well thought out and gracious packages we have received. It was obvious that you put a lot of thought and care into making them. It is always a nice surprise to get a package from home, and it is even a nicer one when it comes from a complete stranger. Our unit has somewhere right around 60 days left in Iraq. Every one of our soldiers have been kept safe this year as a result of the many family and friends back home that continue to pray for us everyday. There is not doubt that we have all been blessed in many ways. Thank you once again for your generosity and thoughtfulness.
God Bless you and your Families this 4th of July,
1LT David S.
