The Bloomfield Republican Women's Club is the largest and longest-standing women’s club in the State of Michigan.  The club operates under the Republican Women’s Foundation of Michigan (RWFM) and the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW), continuing its legacy of empowerment and dedicated service to the Republican cause.

The Bloomfield Republican Women's Club History

In the fall of 1959, a group of eight visionary women came together with a shared goal: to make a positive impact in Oakland County. Confronted by alarming trends in election statistics that indicated a decline in Republican support, these determined individuals recognized the urgent need for action. Their first official meeting took place on December 7, 1959, marking the beginning of their dedicated efforts to strengthen the Republican presence in the community.

These women worked tirelessly to forge relationships with local officials, educate the public on important state legislation, and mobilize voters to ensure successful elections. They established a monthly newsletter to keep members informed and created a valuable voting resource, the “Pocket Ballot,” which provided crucial information for primary and national elections. Through their commitment to civic engagement, they distributed approximately 5,000 “Pocket Ballots” to voters, serving as a vital public service that contributed to Republican victories.

Among the 17 Republican women’s clubs formed in Oakland County in 1961, the Bloomfield Republican Women’s Club (BRWC) stands as the sole survivor. Today, it proudly holds the title of the largest and longest-standing women’s club in the State of Michigan. The BRWC meets throughout the year, offering a blend of educational programs, social events, and volunteer opportunities that foster community involvement and engagement.
